• PLANTING: Consult your local nursery for proper depth and spacing of bulbs and plants. Drill hole to desired depth. Insert the bulb or seedling. Cover with soil.
• TREE AERATION: To aerate or fertilize trees and large shrubs, drill holes two feet apart around the outside drip line. Insert fertilizer into holes. For improved long term drainage, fill in holes with gravel or pebbles.
• TERMITE BARRIERS: For insecticide applications, drill hole to depth specified by insecticide manufacturer. Follow all manufacturer's directions and cautions specified on the label.
• WEEDING: For weeding, center the Roto Auger point directly over the center of the weed and drill down until the root is removed.

Love this product. It's actually fun to plant without much work. Worked with drill I had already in my home. Shipping was on time and packed well.

Bought this to use for garden activities. Drills through clay-based soil with ease here in Louisiana. If digging holes in heavy clay soil, be sensitive to any resistance or your drill will try and torque your wrist off. Once a feel for the Yard Butler is developed, it works very well. In fact, in addition to regular gardening activities, this was used to dig two holes for mailbox posts (about 30 inches deep) saving considerable time and effort. Works well with 18-volt Dewalt.

I have arthritis in my hands and wrists making it impossible to dig holes for planting. When I saw this I had to have it. It make transplanting anything easy for me. It is also great for digging fertilizer into soil around established plants. I bought a larger size also. My portable drill might grip the upper shaft better if the shaft was not perfectly round.

I had 42 leftover daffies that I needed to plant. This is the first sunny weekend after lots and lots of snow. Therefore my clay and shale soil was sodden, to the point that my footprints had water in them. I first tried with the battery operated drill. It overheated after about 20 bulbs and it was definitely struggling with the clay. Would only get about 3 inches dug before it would get stuck. Switched over to my corded hammer drill set to drill. What a difference! I dug a six inch deep hole in seconds, no problem at all. I then re-dug the first 20 holes to the proper depth. I was amazed at the ease it went through the wet and sticky clay. I think those that said this thing doesn't work should try it with a more powerful drill.
PS: The reason I had 42 leftover daffies is I pooped out last fall planting the first batch. I cannot praise this auger enough, although I agree a hex shaft would hold better. You do need to keep tightening the chuck.
